Pedestrianise Moseley Village
The long term aim should be to pedestrianise the village centre. In the mean time traffic calming measures should be introduced to deter motorists from driving through Moseley. This should be done in conjunction with Kings Heath and Balsall Heath. Both of these suberbs suffer from congested high streets.
In some areas priority should be given to motorists driving North along the A435 and in other areas priority should be given to those driving South. The same should be done on Wake Green/Sailsbury Road. This would mean fewer people would commute from outside birmingham through Moseley.
The High Street should be planed to give pedestrians priority. Road signs and traffic lights should be removed and the distinction between the roads and pavements should be made less obviouse. This has been tried in Holland and The Duchy Of Cornwall and has the effect of slowing traffic. It encourages people to walk and cycle to their desination.
Trams should also run from Moseley to the City Centre and improtant suburbs such as Harbourne, Sutton Coldfield and Solihull. They could follow the existing bus routes. The priority, however, should be to re-open the railway.
