1. How can we make the village centre better?:
By encoraging more independent yet quality retailers to the village. I am horrifed that we may well have yet another chain supermarket in the guise of the most dreaded Tesco. In my experience the prospect of Tesco in Moseley is universally disliked.
2. How could we attract more local jobs?:
The CDT could look at supporting people who wish to bring independent yet quality retail businesses to Moseley. Helping them with Business plans, Financial advice etc. Obviously these retailers need staff to work in and manage premises. However, I would also say what do we have to gain by more people working in Moseley? I don't think we have an employement problem. A very large City is just up the road.
3. How could we make it easier to get to work, school and the shops?:
Moseley has a very busy road running through it. This is very unlikely to change for some time ie: whatever happens there will still be buses, cars etc. We know that the volume of this is going to increase. Therefore this is something people will have to put up with. The centre of Moseley is on a very busy route in to the City. That isn't going to change. Please can people scrap the idea that we can remove traffic lights and have people wandering around all over the place.
4. What should we do to protect or improve our historic buildings and parks?:
Spend some money on them. Get the council to take action against people who let building fall in to disrepair. Mind you I wrote to the 'Conservation Dept' at the council some years ago about the old Moseley School of Art building. They didn't ever reply.
5. How can we provide more things to do for young and older people?:
Set up free activities that they can get involved in. Espeically during times such as school holidays for young people.
6. In the future, what types of homes will be needed?:
Cheaper ones. That actually look nice.
7. How can we make Moseley a greener place to live?:
Plant street trees. This already happens but it seems only in the more afluent roads. Church Road, Anderton Park Road etc are seemingly ignored. Get some decent litter pick ups, again Church Road is often disgustingly littered with rubbish. Also Church Road is a real problem for dog mess. Offenders should be caught and punished. Again Church Road residents seem to put out rubbish whenever they like. There is no enforcement around this either.
Any other suggestions you would like to make that will help make Moseley a better place:
Stop people begging. Stop street drinkers. People like Leila the 'Big Issue' seller harass people for money on the streets, in bars, in fact wherever they can find them and I find this unaccepatble. Moseley seems to be the place where the council dump people who are drug addicts and cause anti-social behaviour. This isn't fair on the decent tax payers who live here. I couldn't recommend Moseley as a place to live for that reason. People don't like to be harassed on the street when they are going about their daily business. I have personally been attacked by one of these people after she had punched my friend in the face. Oh and the woman with the Greyhounds and the tricycle should be banned from Moseley as she is a danger both to herself and the public around her. Several businesses have had issues with her. I am given to understand that she has now been banned from the 'Private Park' because of her behaviour. Again I have seen her attack people in public physically and verbally. People don't want to live in a place where behaviour like that seems often to be unchallenged.
