![]() Moseley Street Wardens - Kim Monaghan (L) and Graham Flint. Moseley CDT employs two Street Wardens, Kim Monaghan and Graham Flint, who work to make Moseley a better place to live. Their employment was made possible with support from Birmingham City Council, the Kings Heath Centre Partnership, the Limoges Trust, Moseley and District Churches and FCH Housing Associations. Here are some of the activities that the wardens undertake: Support for vulnerable peopleThe street wardens give support to vulnerable people at risk from burglary, vehicle crime and street robbery. They undertake regular patrols of part of the neighbourhood and in particular the village area, which has helped Police to reduce burglaries and car crime. The wardens have distributed property marking kits to local homes and helped elderly people obtain panic alarms from the Police. Reduction in street drinkingThere has been a dramatic fall in the number of street drinkers and beggars in Moseley thanks to the partnership between the Moseley Street Wardens and Police. Moseley Street Wardens have been able to help some of those living on the streets find help to change their lives. But the persistent drinkers and beggars have been passed to the Police. Moseley's shopping area has become a more pleasant place to stay and shop now. Improvements to the local environmentDuring their patrols, Moseley Street Wardens regularly report to the city council details of abandoned vehicles, fly-tipping, graffiti and vandalism. They work with Officers from the Council's Environmental services department and often help make residents and traders aware of the different ways the Council can help. They also help community groups with their own environmental projects such as the Moseley Society car park clean ups, Moseley in Bloom and the Kings Heath Centre Partnership. ![]() Moseley Street Wardens - Kim Monaghan and Graham Flint Here is what Graham and Kim say about their work:"As Moseley Street Wardens we contribute to community safety by patrolling the main shopping area and outlying residential neighbourhoods. This has helped to reduce burglary, robbery and car crime in the area. We are in regular communication with street drinkers ensuring that they pose no danger to the public or to each other. As we patrol we make notes regarding litter, fly-tipping, graffiti, anti-social behaviour etc. This has satellite benefits for the whole community because a clean and tidy neighbourhood gives residents a stronger sense of ownership, which in turn discourages criminal elements from gaining a foothold." How can I contact the street wardens? You can telephone Graham or Kim (or leave a message) at the Moseley CDT office, the number is 0121 449 8585. Street Warden SupportersThe street wardens role is a big job and help is always welcome! If you would like to keep an eye on your street and report any problems such as those mentioned above, then please let them know. The wardens can contact the City Council or the Police on your behalf to get the situation resolved. If you want to take action yourself to clean up part of your street, Moseley street wardens can help you. ![]() Inspector Carroll and Graham Flint West Midlands Police support the Street WardensWest Midlands Police are delighted to be supporting the Moseley Street Warden scheme.
